Owner Spotlight: Marie Fournier

The parts of work which I find most enjoyable and rewarding are meeting with my clients. I love learning about what's new in their lives, and what steps they are taking to grow their businesses.

After being employed with several small businesses early in my career; ranging from a hotel and a parking company, I moved over to a not-for-profit organization and then did some contract work with government. At this time, I decided to start my own business and and fulfil my passion to help more people with their small business financial and tax preparation needs.

I grew up in a small village - Saint-Aubert, which is situated on the South Shore of the St. Lawrence River, midway between Québec City and Rivière-du-Loup. I went to college and earned my diploma in Business Administration in Montmagny, Quebec.

The most satisfying moment for me, personally and professionally was to receive my designation as a Certified General Accountant in 2008.

I started my business here on Vancouver Island in January 2008. I am a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia.

My responsibilities include making sure that my clients are meeting their obligations and deadlines regarding GST/PST, payroll and tax reporting. I do this by providing them with accurate bookkeeping services and sound advice on their day-to-day business operations. and personal tax planning.

My days are never the same. A typical day starts with my returning emails and messages from phone calls received. Then depending on the season, I’ll concentrate on doing my clients bookkeeping, payroll and remittances. My patience and determination ensures that every client receives the best service possible.

The top three skills I depend upon regularly to perform my primary duties are: paying attention to detail, communicating in clear language and exercising my strong talent for organization. I attribute my success to my clients and to my desire for making accounting understandable.

In my time away from work I love to spend time with my family, camping, boating, crabbing, and hiking. I’m also a big fan of reading.

I treasure the personal values of: honesty, love, humour, respect and taking pleasure in the moment.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.

If you, or someone you know could benefit from our financial services and tax advice; I invite you to get in touch.
